Samburu is home to the famous Samburu Special Five – Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk and Beisa oryx – species uniquely adapted to northern Kenya’s dry terrain. The reserve also supports several members of the Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhinoceros, though rhino sightings are less common here.
Meru National Park offers a contrasting landscape of rivers, doum palm forests and open plains. It is home to the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhinoceros, alongside abundant birdlife and thriving river ecosystems.
